Scottsdale Christian Academy (SCA) is a Christ-Centered covenant Christian school in our 5th decade in metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. First founded in 1968, the high school opened in 1973, and has maintained its core mission of maximizing the God-given potential of each student, preparing them to live lives of distinction, by impacting the world for Jesus Christ. We provide a Christian worldview education with academic excellence, arts, and athletics. We are accredited by COGNIA and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). A distinctive and focus of SCA is our missions program, where we instill the lifelong commitment of service. All high school students at SCA serve in the mission field for a week every spring either locally, nationally, or internationally. Students are also required to complete 18 hours of community service per year. In addition to serving both the local and global community, students can be involved in a wide selection of student organizations, clubs, small groups, and activities including NHS, Student Government, and an array of others. SCA is also proud of its award winning fine arts department and a championship athletics program.

Middle School and High School ScienceScottsdale Christian Academy in Phoenix, Arizona seeks a Middle School and High School Science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Candidates must display a deep knowledge of Science, Math and Scripture and how it applies to students’ lives. Individual must be also be adept with technology.

Qualifications include: The candidate must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting SCA’s statement of faith and mission statement. Training in Science/Math and best practices in teaching is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or a related field from an accredited college is required; Master’s degree preferred. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to develop authentic relationships with young adults, and to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement. In addition, the position requires the ability to organize and prioritize work, resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met. Strong technology skills are required.

 

Middle School and High School ELAScottsdale Christian Academy in Phoenix, Arizona seeks a Middle School and High School ELA Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. Elementary Teacher: The teacher shall be a college graduate, certified by the State of Arizona or working toward certification, and one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. He shall be one of spiritual maturity with academic and leadership abilities that will allow him to “train up a child in the way he should go.”  (Proverbs 22:6)

Qualifications include:

  • Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.
  • Affects student learning through mastery of the subject material and utilization of valid teaching strategies to achieve curriculum goals.
  • Teaches classes as assigned and scheduled by the principal.
  • Prepares and submits a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his best work.
  • Employs a variety of instructional methods and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, physical, social, and emotional.
  • Plans through approved channels the balanced use of field trips, guest lecturers, and other media.
  • Uses homework effectively for practice, review, enrichment, or project work.
  • Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Keeps proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises to promote a good learning environment.

 

Pathways Teacher:  A Pathways teacher functions as a special education teacher. A Pathways teacher will teach students who struggle with the general education curriculum, its pace, or is volume. The teacher will be responsible to maintain a caseload of students in grades 4-5  by maintaining their AEP and managing accommodations or modifications as per documented disability.  A Pathways teacher is a student’s greatest advocate/coach on campus.

 

Innovation and Creation Hub Teacher:  The Innovation and Creation Hub teacher applies creative and valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum aims and make a positive impact on K-12 student learning. By integrating biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum, the teacher creates a safe and trusting relationship-based classroom environment. The teacher’s skill and disposition promotes love and respect, equitable participation, critical thinking, and student leadership.

 

 

 

Compensation: Salaries are commensurate with experience. Medical, pension, and additional benefits are included with the positions.

Background Check Statement: SCA conducts pre-employment screening and drug screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check, verification of work history, academic credentials, licenses, and certifications.

Expectations include:

  • Attain an ACSI 2-year Temporary Certificate within the first year of employment and an ACSI Standard Certificate in your teaching discipline within 3 years of employment.
  • Display a deep knowledge of Science and its application to our lives.
  • Display the ability to connect Biblical Truth to middle and high school students.
  • Teach subject area classes utilizing the latest research and best practices.
  • Promote student engagement in order to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student.
  • Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in the classroom as well as instruction while monitoring and managing students’ behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules.
  • Teach classes assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Administrator/Principal.
  • Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
  • Establish and adjust course syllabi outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
